EPE Foam Pick & Pluck Pistol Case
I have been searching for the perfect hard shell pistol cases to store my nicer firearms in the safe. The Cedar Mill seemed to hit the sweet spot on size, quality, and price. The pick and pluck is easy to work with, though I want to try a hot foam knife to cut the curves for the grip frame on the next one. Because my pistols are mostly wide body large frames, I used both layers of the pick &pluck to enclose the gun, leaving only a thin layer of foam underneath. I added an extra 1/2" of the same foam as the base layer and got exactly what I needed. The Case closed nicely with the EPE slightly above the lower section. When closed that foam fit beautifully into the upper section of the case. This may not be an issue with a thinner pistol, such as a single column 1911, as you would probably not need to open up both layers of EPE. If there is one improvement to this very nice case that I could suggest, it would be thicker foam as the base layer. I love the thinness of the cases and the way they fit together. I have bought eight of them so far, so that tells you how impressed I am with them.
