Field Test Insights

In our practical assessment, we selected the Highland Tactical Titan and Armor 21-inch suitcases for their inaugural journey to Cancun Mexico, from Longview Washington. We subjected each suitcase to distinct evaluations. The Armor was designated for the cargo hold, whereas the Titan accompanied us in the cabin.

Throughout the flight, as my spouse and I tended to our child, the Titan’s dimensions proved ideal for maneuvering through the Delta aircraft’s aisle. Its wheels and handles operated without a hitch, ensuring smooth transit within the plane. Given its full-size carry-on stature, I was intrigued by how it would fit into the overhead bins and if gate-checking would be necessary.

On Delta flights, known for their spacious overhead storage, the suitcase nestled in snugly. It required a bit of effort initially, but once positioned, it left just enough clearance to shut the compartment and house additional bags. The strategically placed handles on the front, bottom, and sides made retrieval upon landing effortless, and the telescopic handle was equally efficient for both pushing and pulling along the aisle.

Navigating the suitcase by pushing proved somewhat cumbersome, so I opted to pull it instead, which was decidedly more practical.

The Armor suitcase was entrusted to the check-in desk and remained out of sight until our arrival in Cancun. Anticipating the potential rough handling of checked luggage, I was eager to assess its condition post-flight.

At the baggage claim, we gathered our portable crib and stroller-car seat combo. Regrettably, the car seat sustained damage, with the internal foam bending and breaking, compromising its safety and functionality.

Contrastingly, the Highland Tactical Armor suitcase emerged unscathed and nearly pristine. Minor abrasions were the only evidence of its voyage, with all components functioning as seamlessly as at the time of check-in. The absence of any significant damage, especially when compared to the mishandling of our car seat, attests to the suitcase’s robust super ABS construction.

Advantages of Highland Tactical Titan and Armor 21-Inch Suitcases

This luggage duo stands out for several reasons when compared to alternative options. The hard-shell case construction is particularly impressive, utilizing advanced super ABS material that has proven to be more resilient than many competing hard cases, evidenced by its minimal wear after being stowed in the cargo hold.

I’ve also grown fond of the smooth-rolling wheels, and the thoughtfully designed interior compartments have been instrumental in keeping my items neatly organized. Despite the material’s slim and lightweight nature, it doesn’t sacrifice strength or durability and fulfills its role admirably.

The 21-inch size strikes a balance between ample space for a week’s worth of essentials and a design that’s nimble enough for effortless navigation through aircraft aisles.

Drawbacks of Highland Tactical Titan and Armor 21-Inch Suitcases

The Highland Tactical luggage set leaves little room for criticism. The sole issue noted was with the telescopic handle’s tendency to slip from its fully extended position to a halfway point without intention. This minor inconvenience became less frequent with use, and by the end of our travels, the handle ceased to present any problems.

Concluding Review of Highland Tactical Titan and Armor 21-Inch Suitcases

Highland Tactical Open Suitcase

Highland Tactical’s reputation is well-established in soft luggage, comprising backpacks, bags, and other textile-based items. The transition to hard-sided suitcases, often characterized by the latest innovations, can be daunting.

Yet, Highland Tactical has excelled in maintaining the simplicity and user-friendliness of its products, while also leveraging their renowned quality. Among our extensive collection of both hard and soft luggage, the Highland Tactical pieces are distinguished as the most superior in quality.

For those in pursuit of uncompromised simplicity, excellence, and practicality, the Highland Tactical Titan and Armor series of hard-case suitcases come highly recommended.
