Cedar Mill Fine Firearms review of the Highland Tactical Backlash Bug out bag in Black Digi Camo

It's always better to be prepared for any type of situation. Long drives, camping, hunting or even crisis. You'll never know when you'll need your emergency stuff but one thing's for sure, today is the right time to be prepared. Check out our video to get some tips on the essential stuff you'll need and we're also showing you a great bug out bag that we just got from Highland Tactical.

Great bag, great price! Definitely a must-have!

Hello and thank you for watching. Today we're at the abandoned Trojan nuclear power plant that was decommissioned in Oregon. We're will be replacing our bug out every day carry bag with a new Highland Tactical Bag that we got online.

Now as you can see our original bag isn't that big but has everything we need. Originally it was that nice green color but seeing as it is a cheap eBay bag, it faded to the really pink purple type hue you see now. So it's been through quite a bit of use but today we're going to upgrade it. This Highland Tactical backpack provides more space so let’s pack it up and do a review.

Packing the Highland Tactical Bag

Here is what I put in the Highland Tactical Bag to have it ready as my bug out bag:

Section 1

  • Pipe
  • Matches
  • Wiley X Sunglasses
  • Phone Charger/ F.M. Modulator
  • Pair of Goggles
  • Power cord
  • Gloves
  • Light Sticks

Section 2

  • Wallet
  • Battery Pack
  • Leatherman
  • Multi Tool built by Gerber
  • Phelps Flathead Screwdrivers
  • Flashlight
  • Lighter
  • Lens Cleaner
  • Magnesium Fire Starter
  • Wet Wipes

Section 3

  • Hat
  • Buckshot Lip Balm
  • Basic Medical Supplies
  • Medications
  • Decongestants s
  • Gauze
  • Keys
  • Multi Tool
  • Binder Clip
  • Bullets
  • Permanent Marker
  • Pen
  • Speed Loaders
  • Chargers
  • Charging Cables
  • Thumb Drives
  • Transfer Cables
  • Revolver
  • Tactical Flashlight
  • Lock Pick

I did not put anything in the main large compartment of this Tactical Bag yet. Like I said I'll probably reserve that for a personal defense weapon. I think it would fit very well in there. Wrap it up in a thin blanket or even a poncho for keeping the rain out.

Pro tip: it's a lot easier to remember where your stuff is if everything's grouped similarly. When using this Highland Tactical Bag, consider grouping your bug out supplies into groups. You can have a medical pocket, an electronic pocket, a tool pocket, ect…

Final Thoughts

This Highland Tactical Bag has lots of large pockets to store whatever your important items. This bag is very well built. This bag includes mesh pocket multiple organizational pockets, a special compartment for your laptop, side compartments, and great organizational zippers and separators. The material is think on this Highland bag, which means it will hold up well for a long time.

I first thought that it would be a bit of a challenge to get all this in here and then have enough room for more bug out type supplies. But this new Highland Tactical Bag has so many storage options and such deep pockets. There is going to be more than enough room for everything I usually carry plus more bug out supplies as well as more room for a personal defense weapon in the main pocket. The new bag is big enough to fit the old bag inside of it. But what I really like is the footprint and size is just a little bit larger with it only being partially full like this. It compresses down real nice and if I do decide to pack more in it it'll be easy to do in the future. And there is a lot more room to take even an extra set of clothes, more rain gear whatever you deem necessary.
